What is sildenafil?
Sildenafil (also known as Viagra) is an MHRA-approved medication for erectile dysfunction. It increases blood flow to the penis during sexual stimulation.
How does it work?
Sildenafil is a PDE-5 inhibitor: it relaxes the blood vessels to increase blood flow, helping you achieve and maintain an erection. You'll need to be sexually aroused for it to work.
When do I take it and how long does it last?
Take sildenafil about 1 hour before sexual intercourse, as required. Its effects can last for 4 to 6 hours.
Are there different doses?
Sildenafil comes in 25mg, 50mg and 100mg tablets. Once you complete your online consultation, our clinicians will prescribe the most appropriate dose for you.
What are the side effects?
Sildenafil is usually well tolerated. The most common side effects are headaches, feeling sick, indigestion and dizziness. Rare but serious effects such as an erection lasting longer than 4 hours need urgent medical attention.
Can I drink alcohol while taking it?
Moderate alcohol (maximum 2 units) is generally considered safe, but both alcohol and sildenafil lower blood pressure, so combining them can cause dizziness or fainting. Alcohol can also affect performance.
Does it interact with other medications?
