When will Foundayo be available in the UK?
Foundayo was approved by the MHRA on 10 August 2026, making the UK the first country in Europe to approve it for weight management. Stock is expected to land in late August 2026, though approval, supply and launch are separate steps, so exact timing can move. What is Foundayo?
Foundayo is the brand name for orforglipron, a once-daily GLP-1 tablet made by Eli Lilly, the company behind Mounjaro. Unlike earlier GLP-1 medicines, it's a small-molecule (non-peptide) compound, which is what lets it survive digestion as a tablet and be taken at any time of day, with or without food or water.
How much weight could I lose?
In the ATTAIN-1 trial, adults taking the highest dose lost 11.2% of their body weight on average over 72 weeks, alongside a reduced-calorie diet and increased activity, compared with around 2% on placebo. Just over half lost 10% or more. Individual results vary.
How do I take it?
One tablet a day, swallowed whole, at any time of day, with or without food or water. There's no fasting window and no timing rules, so it fits around your routine rather than the other way round. Don't split, chew or crush the tablet, and keep it in its original packaging at room temperature.
How is it different from the Wegovy Pill?
Both are daily GLP-1 tablets, but they're built differently. The Wegovy Pill is peptide-based, so it must be taken on an empty stomach with a small amount of water and a 30-minute wait before eating. Foundayo's small-molecule structure removes those rules entirely. In separate trials the Wegovy Pill showed a higher average weight loss (16.6% over 64 weeks against 11.2% over 72 weeks), so it's a trade-off between results and flexibility. A clinician can help you weigh it up.
What are the side effects?
Similar to other GLP-1 medicines: mostly digestive (nausea, constipation, diarrhoea, vomiting or indigestion), usually mild to moderate and most noticeable around dose increases. That's why the dose steps up gradually, with each strength held for at least 30 days. If side effects feel serious or aren't settling, your care team is a message away.
Can I buy Foundayo in the UK today?
Not yet. No pharmacy can legally supply it until launch stock is released, so be cautious of any website claiming to sell Foundayo or orforglipron right now. It's a prescription-only medicine, so when it does launch you'll always need a clinician's review first, which is exactly what the pre-order consultation covers.
