Why the price rises with your dose
Mounjaro treatment typically starts at 2.5mg and steps up over the first months as your body adjusts — most patients move to 5mg after four weeks, and may continue stepping up with their clinician. Higher-strength pens carry a higher price from the manufacturer, so your monthly cost usually rises with your dose.
That step-up isn't automatic. If you and your clinician agree a lower dose is working well, you can stay on it — and pay the lower price.
The 2025 UK price increase, explained
In September 2025, Eli Lilly — the manufacturer of Mounjaro — increased its UK list price. Because every regulated pharmacy buys from the same supply chain, prices rose across the whole UK market, not at any one provider.
